Saponificio Varesino

Saponificio Varesino

Funded in 1945, and inspired by the Ancient and Rare Organic Ingredients of Italy, this brand was born in Brebbia, near the shores of Lago Maggiore in northern Italy.

There, the Marseilles method of saponification is used to produce triple-milled palm oil free soaps for shaving and bathing using natural cleansing and exfoliating ingredients.

Saponificio Varesino has traveled all over Italy to find these rare plants, that grow in hard to reach places, to guide users of these shaving soaps on an imaginary journey throughout the unique and most secretive regions of this beautiful country.

The original process used to make the soaps would mix Mediterranean Sea water with olive oil and plant extracts together in a large heated cauldron. This mixture would then be stirred constantly for several days, then poured into a mold and left to set for up to a month.

All of Saponificio Varesino soaps are triple milled (they are carefully passed through a milling machine three times) to thoroughly mix the soap with any fragrances or extra ingredients, while squeezing out any extra water or air. This creates a longer-lasting hard soap with less waste and a richer lather.
